LESSON 1: CREATING A UNIFIED VISION
In this session, you'll learn why it matters that you create a unified vision for your film and how to do it.
We cover understanding the #1 thing that guides everything, and how it will inform all the things you must consider (colour tone, mood, composition, visual motifs etc...). You'll also learn the power of creating unifying principles and why they make your job so much easier.
LESSON 2: BRINGING YOUR VISION TO LIFE
Once you have your vision, your job is to communicate it to your Director of Photography, Production Designer and other crew so that they can bring it to life and in this lesson, you'll learn about your key collaborators, how to choose them and how to work best with them.
LESSON 3: WORKING WITH ACTORS
Good performances are THE KEY to the success of any movie. If you believe the actors and care for them, you're on the path to a good movie. If you don't, it doesn't matter how fancy your shots are or how well it's edited, no one is going to love your movie. In this lesson, you're going to learn everything you need to know about casting, rehearsing, and guiding actors on set so that you lock in amazing, award-worthy performances.
LESSON 4: LIFE ON SET
In this lesson, you're going to learn how to navigate being a director on the set of your movie so that you get the best out of all your cast and crew and set yourself on track to make a great movie.
LESSON 5: NAVIGATING POST - AND BEYOND
A director's job doesn't end with the shoot. Now you enter post-production, where the movie is rewritten again. You'll learn everything you need to know to deliver the best movie you can - and also what to expect when you finish your film.
